Sleek fits, vibrant colors, hats, and a big smile – that’s Emegi in a nutshell. The digital creator has been drawn to self-expression through clothing from a young age, and his style continues to evolve, guided by mood, energy, and identity. Below, he shares how his relationship with fashion developed and what inspires his outfits today.
When did you realize that clothes matter?
I think it must have been when I started playing football at 12. That’s when I began thinking about how I wanted to represent myself – and how others might see me.
Your earliest memories related to clothing?
They go back to lower secondary school. That’s when I really started thinking about what I was wearing and how I was perceived.
When did your current style take shape?
I didn’t really have money in high school, so I dressed with inspiration from others and whatever I had at home. My current style started taking shape once I began getting paid from football and work. That’s when I could truly express myself and choose pieces that felt more like me.
Why do some people know how to dress cool and others don’t? Where does style begin?
It’s either you have it or you mould it. I think everyone has their own unique taste – it’s just about developing it.
I’ve been fortunate enough to shoot a couple of times with Marimekko, and this stunning set was kindly gifted by their team.
Clothes as a form of communication?
Absolutely. Clothes are the first thing a person sees. In a way, they reflect what’s going on inside someone’s mind – or at least the mood they want to project.
Why do you enjoy hunting for special pieces?
It’s less about hunting and more about asking: Does this fit me? How can I add this to my style and inspire others in my own way?
Being simplistic and minimal has always been my approach. Small additions – like a cap, beanie, or scarf – bring the whole outfit together. Those details feel necessary.
Clothes as memory keepers?
Some pieces are; others aren’t. It sure can be hard to let go sometimes.
I’ve been working with Zalando for some time now, and most of the clothes are from there, which brings me a lot of pride and gratitude.
Clothes you miss and wish you still had?
Not really. If it’s gone, there’s nothing I can do about it. There’s always something similar out there.
Your everyday outfit – what matters most?
I usually go with my mood. And if I’ve just been to the barber? Then I’m stepping out with extra confidence – bringing sunshine wherever I go.
Whose style has caught your eye?
A$AP Rocky, aka Pretty Flacko. He has amazing style and is super versatile, which I really admire.
